AmaWaterways reveals details of new double-width ship
2026-06-29AmaWaterways revealed details and renderings of the AmaRudi, the line’s forthcoming double-width river ship launching next year.
Named after cofounder Rudi Schreiner, the ship will begin sailing the Danube River next spring. The AmaRudi was built on the designs of the AmaMagna, another double-width ship in the AmaWaterways fleet.
The vessel will introduce a new entertainment concept with a venue featuring a cinema, karaoke, pool table and a jukebox.
“AmaMagna changed what travelers believed was possible on a river cruise ship,” Schreiner said. “We knew there would be a right time to revisit that concept, and with river cruising continuing to grow, that time is now. More travelers are making the transition from ocean cruising to rivers, and many are looking for a sense of space and choice.”
The AmaRudi can hold up to 196 guests across 98 staterooms and will feature multiple dining venues: a main restaurant, a chef’s table specialty restaurant, alfresco dining areas and Rudi’s Wine Bar. The wellness area will offer massage treatment rooms and hair and nail services, while the sun deck will include a full-sized pickleball court.
“AmaMagna was one of the most rewarding projects of my career, so having this new ship carry my name makes it especially meaningful,” he said. “I see it as part of the legacy we have built together over more than two decades of river cruising.”
The ship was constructed with engines, solar panels, shore power connectivity and lightweight construction materials to boost efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
