Caribbean readies for a wave of reopenings

Caribbean islands have reopened to international tourism. But many islands have adopted different restrictions and requirements for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers; some have begun easing travel restrictions.
Here are the latest developments for travel from the U.S. to each Caribbean country. To make this information easier to understand, we are segmenting each entry into entry-requirement information for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers and specific rules for kids.

A negative Covid test, taken within one day of travel, is required for all travelers, regardless of vaccination status, to enter the U.S., with the exception of U.S. territories Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Anguilla: open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Fully vaccinated travelers who are 18 and over no longer need to apply for permission to enter the country. Must present proof of vaccination status, a negative PCR test result taken within three days of travel or a rapid antigen test done within two days of travel. No testing on arrival for those fully vaxxed within the last six months and for those who have had a booster shot. Travelers who have been vaxxed more than six months prior to travel but have not had booster dose are subject to testing upon arrival at their own expense ($50).
Unvaccinated adults:
Not allowed to enter.
Children:
Unvaccinated minors under 18 must be accompanied by fully vaccinated travelers.

Antigua and Barbuda: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Travelers 18 and over must present proof of vaccination and present results of a RT-PCR test or rapid antigen test taken within four days of travel. Home tests, self-administered test and saliva samples are not accepted. Must complete Health Declaration form on arrival. Some vaxxed passengers with rapid antigen test result may be required to take a RT-PCR test upon arrival at their own expense and await results.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Not permitted entry.
Children:
Children ages 5 to 18 must submit proof of negative RT-PCR or rapid antigen test taken within four days of travel. Children under 5 do not require any test.

Aruba: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
All travelers:
Travelers no longer need to present a negative Covid test or proof of vaccination. Visitors must fill out Aruba’s Embarkation/Debarkation Card and answer questions about their recent health.

Aruba requires the purchase of visitor insurance as part of the arrival form.

Bahamas: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Show proof of vaccination and either a negative rapid antigen or RT-PCR test taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to arrival.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Travelers ages 12 and over must present proof of RT-PCR test taken within three days of arrival. Must complete daily health questionnaire while in Bahamas.
Children:
Those ages 2 to 11 must show proof of either a rapid antigen or RT-PCR test taken within three days of arrival; children under 2 years are exempt from test requirements. Must complete daily health questionnaire while in Bahamas.

Travelers ages 18 and over must apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa; pay insurance (cost is included in visa fee and is dependent upon length of stay and vaccination status); 17 and under can have their profile added within the account of their parent or guardian.

Barbados: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Proof of a negative rapid antigen test taken within one day of arrival from accredited medical facility or a PCR test result taken within three days of arrival. Download BMISafe app and complete travel form via the app with test result within 24 hours prior to arrival and vaccination proof.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Same as above, plus a three-day quarantine with test on day 4 to exit quarantine.
Children:
Unvaccinated travelers under the age of 18 are allowed to enter if accompanied by vaccinated parents/guardians; travelers under 5 are not subject to testing requirements.

Bermuda: open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
12 and over must be vaccinated, effective March 7. Must provide proof of vaccination, negative antigen result taken within two days of arrival or PCR result within four days of arrival. This information must be uploaded to traveler authorization form 24 to 48 hours before arrival; the fee is $40, which includes return testing for U.S.-bound travelers.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Not permitted entry.
Children:
Visitors age 2 and over need to provide a test as stated above. Those age 11 and under do not need vaccination as long as they are accompanied by vaccinated family members.

Bonaire: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
No test required for those 12 and older if vaccination or booster was less than nine months (270 days) ago. For all other vaccinated travelers: 12 and over must show proof of negative antigen test result done within 24 hours of arrival or PCR test within 48 hours of arrival.
Unvaccinated travelers:
12 and over must show proof of PCR test result taken within 48 hours of arrival and file health form.
Children:
Children 11 and under are exempt from vaccination and pre-entry testing.

All travelers must file a health declaration form 12 to 24 hours before departure.

British Virgin Islands: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Must produce proof of vaccination and a negative PCR or rapid antigen test taken no later than 48 hours prior to arrival. Not required to register on the entry portal or test upon arrival. (If the test result is older than 48 hours, whether due to delays or overnight layovers, fully vaccinated travelers are required to register on the portal and take a rapid antigen test on the day of arrival). Must produce proof of travel insurance covering Covid medical and quarantine accommodations costs.
Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers:
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated adults must produce proof of certified PCR test taken three to five days prior to arrival, obtain travel authorization via the BVI Gateway portal, test on arrival and quarantine for five and four days, respectively.
Children:
17 and under do not have to register on the entry portal if traveling with parent or guardian who is fully vaccinated; must produce negative PCR or rapid antigen test taken within five days of arrival and test on arrival.

Cayman Islands: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Proof of negative rapid antigen result taken within 24 hours prior to arrival for travelers 5 and up; vaccination proof for those 12 and up; medial insurance. Upload information to Travel Portal. No quarantine or on-island testing is required.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Quarantine for 7 days. Can be released if consecutive lateral flow tests during their stay are negative.
Children:
11 years and under can travel with vaccinated adults. Proof of negative rapid antigen result taken within 24 hours prior to arrival for travelers 5 and up.

Cuba: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Travelers 13 and over must show proof of Covid vaccination, medical insurance and result of a negative RT-PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival. Must fill out a new form in advance of arrival. Once the form is submitted, travelers will receive a QR code by email which must be shown upon arrival in Cuba.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Entry not permitted.
Children:
12 and under are exempt from vaccination and PCR test.

American visitors are barred from strictly tourist vacations to the all-inclusive resorts on the north coast but can travel to Cuba under 12 specific categories, the most popular of which is Support for the Cuban People.

Curacao: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
All travelers:
No quarantine or pre-entry Covid test is required. Must complete the digital immigration card online prior to departure and fill out the passenger locator card within 48 hours of departure. Once the passenger locator card is received via email, travelers should bring digital or printed copy with them.

Dominica: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Complete an online health questionnaire 24 hours prior to arrival; upload negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to arrival or negative rapid antigen test result taken 48 hours prior to arrival; upload confirmation of booking in Safe in Nature certified property.
Effective April 4, show proof of vaccination prior to boarding flight to Dominica and on arrival. No pre-arrival form or pre-testing required.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Pay for antigen test on arrival ($37). Requirements are the same as above, plus a 7-day quarantine with PCR swab on day 5.
Effective April 4: Produce PCR test result taken within 72 hours of arrival or rapid antigen test from certified facility within 48 hours of arrival.
Children:
Under 18, unvaccinated children are subject to same protocols as vaccinated visitors; an antigen or PCR test is required for all those 2 and over.
Effective April 4: 12 and under will assume the status of parents or guardian.

Dominican Republic: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
All travelers:
No vaccination proof, negative test result or quarantine required. Travelers ages 18 and over must fill out the Electoral Ticket portal required for entry and exit within 72 hours of arrival. Information for up to six family members can be included on one application.Two QR codes will be generated, one for entry, one for exit. There is a brief health screening upon arrival on passengers selected at random.

Grenada: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Proof of vaccination (original card is required) and proof of a negative PCR test taken within three days of arrival or rapid antigen test taken within one day of arrival. A Health Declaration Form also is required. Health screening on arrival.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Not permitted entry.
Children:
Kids 12 and under exempt from being fully vaccinated; five and under exempt from testing.
All travelers:
Effective April 4, all Covid entry regulations are eliminated, including pre-entry test, health declaration form, test or health screening upon arrival.

Guadeloupe: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
12 and over must present proof of vaccination and negative RT-PCR test result taken within 24 hours of arrival.
Unvaccinated travelers:
12 and over must justify the visit for compelling reason, e.g. a emergency health reason or to render professional services; a negative RT-PCR test result taken within 24 hours of arrival must be provided.
Children:
11 and under when accompanied by vaccinated adult do not need vaccination.

Haiti: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
All travelers:
2 years and up must provide a negative Covid-19 antigen test taken within one day before departure to Haiti, regardless of vaccination status. No quarantine on arrival.

Jamaica: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
All travelers:
No travel authorization is required to enter. All travelers 12 and over must submit proof of a negative PCR test or antigen test taken within three days of travel. No travel-related quarantines are in effect.
Travelers staying in the Resilient Corridors along the north and south coasts of the island are free to move about the corridors and visit attractions that have been certified by the Tourist Board to be a Covid-19 Resilient Licensed tourist attraction.

Martinique: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Must present proof of full vaccination and a PCR test taken within 72 hours of boarding or an antigen test taken within 48 hours of boarding.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Not permitted entry except for an “overriding” personal or professional reason; documentation of reason, a PCR test and quarantine on arrival are all required.
Children:
Minors are exempt from vaccination requirements if they are traveling with a vaccinated adult.

Montserrat: open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
All visitors must be fully vaccinated, show proof of a negative PCR test taken within five days prior to entry, complete and submit the online Access Declaration Form no later than three days prior to arrival, quarantine for five days and take a PCR or rapid antigen test on day three or four.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Not permitted entry.
Children:
Children 5 and over must also submit a negative PCR result. Children over 2 years of age must be tested on day three or four of quarantine. All visitors have to transit through V.C. Bird Airport in Antigua and must follow Antigua and Barbuda’s entry requirements.

Puerto Rico: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
No pre-arrival test required. Upload vaccination proof to Travel Declaration Form to obtain Airport Exit Confirmation Code and a QR code. Booster shot not required for entry.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Those 2 years and over must have proof of negative PCR test result taken within 48 hours of arrival or take test within 48 hours of arrival and quarantine while awaiting result. If no test done within 48 hours, must quarantine for 7 days and be subject to a fine.

Saba and St. Eustatius (Statia): Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
All travelers 11 years and up must fill out Electronic Health Authorization System form 24 hours before arrival and submit proof of vaccine, travel insurance, negative antigen result taken within 48 hours or PCR result taken within 72 hours of arrival. On-island Covid testing is required on days 2 and 5 (free of charge).
Unvaccinated travelers:
Same as above, as well as mandatory quarantine for five days on Saba and a 10-day quarantine on Statia.
Childrean:
2-10 years can enter with pre-travel test or take antigen test upon arrival.

Daytrippers must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of negative PCR test and Electronic Health Authorization System form if traveling to/from St. Maarten.

St. Barts: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Proof of vaccination required for age 18 and over or children between 12 and 17 who are traveling alone, No pre-arrival test required.
Unvaccinated or non fully vaccinated travelers:
Present a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or an antigen test result done within 48 hours of flight departure.
Children:
Unvaccinated children 5 and over must present a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or an antigen test result done within 48 hours of flight departure
More information:
If connecting through St. Maarten, complete pre-arrival Electronic Health Authorization System form within 72 hours of arrival in St. Maarten (required in both directions).

St. Kitts and Nevis: open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
All those 12 and over must complete a travel authorization form and include proof of vaccination and a negative RT-PCR test result taken within 72 hours of travel. The form must be submitted no later than 24 hours prior to travel. Must book at travel-approved accommodations on St. Kitts and Nevis.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Entry not permitted for unvaccinated travelers 12 and older.
Children:
11 and under traveling with fully vaccinated parents or guardian are exempt from vaccination.

St. Lucia: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Travelers 5 and older must provide results of a negative rapid PCR or antigen test taken one day prior to arrival or PCR test up to five days before travel. Rapid test must be administered by a healthcare provider; self-administered tests and saliva tests are not accepted.
Unvaccinated travelers:
All those 5 and older who are not vaccinated must submit results of a negative PCR test within five days of travel. Must stay in Covid-certified accommodations for duration of their visit.
Children:
Unvaccinated children ages 5 to 17 traveling with vaccinated family members must be tested on arrival and remain in quarantine until negative test result is received.
More information:
Travelers 18 and over must upload test results prior to travel and carry printed copy of Health Screening Form, test results and proof of vaccination (for vaccinated travelers) to present at entry.

St. Maarten/St. Martin: open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
No negative test result required for entry for those vaccinated and those who have recovered from Covid in the past nine months.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Provide results of a negative PCR test result taken 48 hours prior to arrival or an antigen test taken 24 hours before arrival.
Children:
Children 5 and over who are not fully vaccinated must show results of a negative RT-PCR test taken within 48 hours of arrival.
More information:
The health authorization form (Electronic Health Authorization System-EHAS) is required for all travelers and must be submitted within 72 hours of arrival. The St. Maarten SXM Protection Plan is mandatory for all travelers. Plan rate varies depending on the traveler’s age and covers hospital costs, ICU costs, doctor consultation, Covid tests and medical evacuation, if necessary.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Vaccinated travelers:
Complete the pre-arrival form, show proof of vaccination and results of rapid antigen test result taken within 24 hours of arrival or PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival. No test or quarantine on arrival.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Must show proof of a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of arrival, may be retested upon arrival and must quarantine in a Tourism Approved/Ministry of Health approved accommodation at their own expense and may be retested during quarantine.
Children:
Travelers under 18 may follow the protocol of vaccinated adult or family member.

Turks and Caicos: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Travelers are required to show proof of vaccination through the TCI Assured pre-travel program and portal prior to entering the country and must also provide proof of a negative RT-PCR or antigen test taken within three days of travel.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Visitors 16 and older who are not vaccinated will not be permitted entry.
Children:
Those ages 2 and older must provide proof of a negative test taken within three days of travel.
More information:
Travelers must also have medical/travel insurance that covers medical evacuation, a completed health screening questionnaire and certification that the traveler has read and agreed to the private policy document. All these requirements must be uploaded to the portal in advance of arrival. Any traveler testing positive prior to departing Turks and Caicos must quarantine for 10 days at his own expense and undergo a Covid-19 test on day 7 prior to release.

Trinidad and Tobago: Open to vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Provide proof of vaccination and test results from negative PCR test done within 72 hours of arrival. Apply via travel form within 72 prior to departure.
Unvaccinated travelers:
Not permitted to enter.
Children:
16 and over follow protocols of vaccinated travelers; 15 and under traveling with vaccinated adults are exempt from pre-arrival testing.

U.S. Virgin Islands: Open to vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers:
Provide proof of vaccination. No entry test required.
Unvaccinated travelers:
5 and up must continue to submit a negative antigen or PCR test result taken within five days of arrival.
More information:
Travelers must also receive pre-travel clearance from the USVI Travel Portal. Passports are not required for U.S. citizens to enter US territories such as the USVI or Puerto Rico. The USVI’s status as a U.S. territory excludes it from the CDC requirement for a negative Covid test before entering or returning to the U.S.
