More Americans will be traveling for I Do’s In ’22

2022-05-16

Travelers are saying “I do” to destination weddings this year, with a recent Priceline survey indicating that 79% of Americans plan to attend a wedding in the U.S. that requires travel in the next 12 months.

The report, which surveyed more than 1,000 Americans in early April, also found that 57% of respondents said they plan on attending more weddings and wedding events this year than usual because they missed out on so many wedding-related celebrations during the pandemic.

Likewise, 60% said they’ve been invited to even more wedding and wedding-related events than usual this year because of Covid-related delays and rescheduling.

But while most Americans are eager to attend destination weddings, Covid remains a concern. Priceline reports that 64% of those surveyed said Covid levels in the destination will impact their decision to travel for a wedding or wedding-related event.

Priceline’s report comes as the destination wedding industry enjoys a pandemic-era boom, with engaged couples, as well as their guests, willing to spend more on wedding-related travel and events.

According to Priceline, the average cost to attend a wedding that requires travel is $2,700.
