New River Cruise Line Emerald Waterways To Launch

New river cruise line Emerald Waterways is set to launch on Saturday 17 August. The 4-star river cruise line, a more affordable version of Scenic Tours’ existing luxury cruise line, will launch its first ship Emerald Sky in April 2014, followed by a sister ship Emerald Star, in June. The 182-passenger ships will include some innovative designs, including a swimming pool with retractable roof at the back of the ship, for year-round swimming, coupled with a gelati bar. The pool will then be covered at night and the space will be transformed into a cinema, screening a mixture of new releases and classics. The ships will have contemporary design throughout and there are four categories of staterooms: a small number of Emerald Staterooms with picture windows; the Emerald Panorama Balcony Suite where, at the touch of a button, the upper half of the floor-to-ceiling window will drop down, giving uninterrupted views of the scenery; Emerald Grand Balcony Suite with outdoor balcony, iPod dock and complimentary, pre-dinner canapés and Nespresso machine; and the Owner’s One-bedroom Suite complete with lounge area.
